Weaving Giving Communities With Art Venues

There are many resources for
Businesses & The Arts
I want to suggest an equally important method of collusion by setting the stage for Fund-Raising in an Arts Venue.

Swedish National Museum Stockholm, Projected Grafetti

Giving requires imagination, purpose in life & the ability to function at a level that goes beyond our own immediate needs.
Metropolitan Museum NYC Chinagate/Cariter Exhibits
What better place that a location that already features the human imagination, creative beauty & the need to communicate with others?

The Sewell Gallery is offering its space for the Salvation Army to feature its upcoming Red Kettle Fund Raising Event in Eureka, CA. There will be a portrait artist to accept commissions, part of those final payments to be donated, a Guest Speaker to welcome the guests & give a brief history of the Salvation Army, & an auction for a piece of art that had been donated for the purposes of Public Relations. This is an excellent opportunity to make comfortable some members of the public who may not otherwise visit an art gallery, & give exposure to the local artists currently showing their work.

Bringing Art To The Masses...Everyone Benefits

Featuring intended collisions of high fashion with high art,
Sarah Jones writes about this phenomena in
LUXURY DAILY Oct. 3, 2014 issue.

"Sotheby's Day Sales are organized by contemporary art specialists, who pick out pieces from both established and up-and-coming artists. Price points for work range from a few thousand to $4 million...Sotheby's has joined forces with online auctioneer eBay to develop a digital platform that enables customers to easily browse artwork, antiques and collectibles.

Bergdorf Goodman has previously used its windows to connect itself to the art world."

For centuries there have been discussions about the issue of exposing mass populations to the fine arts. The disparity of income, opportunity, education & psychology of this topic has been explored only to have it be determined, everyone benefits.

ANARCHY AND BEAUTY: William Morris and His Legacy, 1860-1960 runs October through January, 2015 at the National Portrait Gallery, London. This includes study of WE SIT STARVING AMIDST OUR GOLD Mural which focuses on the socialist values of Morris.

LUXURY Prive Show held at the Waldorf Astoria/ Jewelry is Art!

As a member of the Press, (Helium Network) I was able to attend the LUXURY Prive Show held at the Waldorf Astoria in NYC. My professional jewelry background includes extensive studies at Gemological Institute of America, Carlsbad with sales experience to include Tiffany's, Bailey, Banks, & Biddle, and Shreve & Company. I worked as a traveling sales representative for Stephen Singer Antique & Estate Jewelers, NYC meaning I took a million dollars worth of jewelry in a suitcase with body guards with guns to meet me at the airports. I explain this only to show how much the jewelry industry has changed in 15 short years, pre-911.
Oscar Heyman
I had the honor to sit next to and chat with such notables as Diane Warga-Arias (JewelryActivist), Diamond Expert Host on HSN, and across from Tom Heyman from the Oscar Heyman family, with information regarding the book of family history being created by the Boston Museum of Fine Art, executive Ron Greenidge from Emiko Pearls with offices in Hong Kong & Seattle, Robert Andrews with ZIVA, and Becky Cole, independent blogger. (DiamondsInTheLibrary.blogspot.com)

The "buzz" was about what the women were going to wear to the evening signature event of the Women's Jewelry Association. Each company had a few minutes in the breakfast sessions to explain who they were, their latest design issues & successes, and friendly reminders of how long they had all known one another with those in the room.

Here is the list of the 2014 Exhibiting Designers & Brands: A&P Arafin Co Inc, A. Link, Aaron Shum Jewelry Limited, Air Essentials, Alisa, American Gem Society, ARIVA, Artistry Ltd, CHARLES GARNIER, Christopher Designs, Cicada Jewelry, Color Story, Coronet Diamonds, Danhov, DAVID MOR, David Rovinsky, Diabella Inc, Dilamani, Doves by Doron Paloma, Ed Levin Jewelry Inc, Emiko Pearls International, Fana, First Image Design Corp, Frederick Sage, Gemfind, GemIT, Gemveto Jewelry Co, The Gordon Co, HJ Namdar, Harmon, Henderson Collection, Henri Daussi/Andiamond, Hulchi Belluni, Imagine Designs, JB Star, Jewelers Mutual, Julius Klein, KC Designs, LJ Cross, LJ West Diamonds Inc, Maiden Lane Jewelry LTD, Marco Daniel Inc, MARLI, Martin Flyer, Mastoloni, The Mazza Company, Memoire, MK Diamonds & Jewelry, Mondrian Collection, Nadar Kash International, Omi Prive, ORRANA, Oscar Heyman, Papini Gioielli, PE Jay Creations Ltd, Phillip Gavriel, Repousse Jewelry, Samuel B. It seemed that several years ago every artist & their dog had a website. The truth be told, maintaining a website is expensive financially but also in terms of time. Most of the artists I know would prefer their painting to website baby-sitting.

Success in the arts has found a home with two highly credentialed institutions in NYC. EBay & Sotheby's said they want to capitalize on the growing  use of online mobile devices, noting that online art sales are projected to increase to $13 Billion by 2020...The venture will start by streaming live auctions from Sotheby's New York headquarters, allowing "real-time bidding from anywhere around the world".   http://money.cnn.com/2014/07/14/technology/ebay-sothebys/index.html
The other key player in the world of art auctions is Christie's.

Portland Oregon Arts Scene

I went to a fabulous research tool on the web called
http://artsamerica.org/portland/
I keyed in Portland, but you can ask for art info anywhere in the USA!

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY COMING UP...

 www.wallcoo.net
I went to the Portland Weekly which is reported to have an excellent arts & entertainment listing.
I added up 303 art galleries. That is amazing, especially since so many art galleries have closed up & gone with online features.

In addition to the Portland Opera there is an addition Broadway Series including the Book Of Mormon, but also

When a child, I went to see Margot Fonteyn & Rudolf Nureyev in Portland. They were touring with the Royal Ballet. I would go to the stage door & wait inside the hallway stairs to collect my autographs. I have five ballet programs from Portland where I have original signatures within from that era in my life. (The early sixties)

I have great plans to revisit Portland as an arts mecca, with my personal taste & formal education now under my belt. I'll keep you in the loop.
